BEY'S STRAIGHT TALK MARKETING JOURNAL

Vol. 2   February 2010

Hello,

In this issue we'll talk a little more about article marketing. As I stated in the last issue, article marketing is a tool that you should plan to use as a part of your overall marketing strategy.

One reason is because you can place articles for free on several article directories and even if you use paid services, this is an inexpensive way to market your business.

I think that one of the best things about marketing with articles is that the people who read your articles will consider you to be an expert on the area that you are writing about. Plus the people who take the time to read articles are interested in learning more about the subject the article is about.

There are many marketers who focus on writing articles as the main part of their marketing strategy. They will tell you that in order for this strategy to be effective you should write or obtain from 100 to 300 or more articles.

YOUR ARTICLE WRITING STRATEGY

In formulating your article writing strategy you want to consider:

*How do you plan to get people to read your articles?

*How do you plan to use your articles to form a relationship with your first time readers?

*How are you going to use your articles to build the trust and confidence of your readers?

*How do you plan to get your articles in front of as many people as possible?

*What is the best method to use to build your arsenal of articles?

The above are just a few of the questions that I suggest that you consider very carefully before you launch your article marketing campaign.

Right now, I have twelve live articles on E-zine articles that have been there for about two years. Each month E-zine articles sends a report on how many times your articles have been read and also how many readers clicked on the link in the resource box to get more information about you and your products and services. Outside of the title of your article, I consider the resource box to be the most important part of an article. If 1000 people read your article and no one clicks on the link to go to your squeeze page or web site you have no chance of beginning to form a relationship with the people who may be interested in getting more information on your products or services, or signing up to receive your news letter so that you can get them into your marketing funnel.

Just for your information, here is the life time performance of my articles on E-zine articles:

Number of times my articles were read: 1001

Three most read articles:

Do You Need a Mentor? Number of times read: 292

The Mail Order Secret Success Formula: Total life time views 136

Is Your Business Debt a Bottomless Pit? Total life time views: 123

As you can see even though I only have twelve articles on this directory and there is a lot of competition the articles do get read.

My goal this year is to produce at least one article each week, this will give me at least 52 more articles and I already have some articles prepared and ready to go, it's just a matter of submitting the articles.

GETTING STARTED WRITING YOUR ARTICLES

You may not feel that you can write articles or you don't have the time to sit down and write a bunch of articles.

My personal choice is to write my own articles based on my own experience because having original articles is very important to me.

I started learning to write articles back when I worked in mail order, back in the days shortly before the Internet became popular as a marketing tool. I had no experience writing anything and I did very poorly in high school.

In those days I was losing money placing ads in national print and mail order publications. I joined a mail order association called The Inter Circle and the founder of the association, Dale Rolland encouraged me along with other members to start trying our hand at writing articles. Dale published my first article in the monthly issue of the association newsletter. The article was short and to be honest it wasn't very good but it got me started and I kept on improving little by little, and learned from other articles that I read.

So, I know that any one who is willing to take the time to learn can write articles.

With that said, you don't have to write the articles yourself. You can hire a ghost writer to do it for you and there are tons of articles out there with private label rights that you can purchase and use as your own. So, you have two choices, take the time to learn to do it yourself or pay to have some one to do it for you. What ever you choose to do, you should include articles as a major part of your marketing strategy.

Well, that's it for this month. Remember I look forward to your questions and comments. If there is anything that I can do for you, just contact me by E-mail at:
