How To Make Money From Hot News Stories

I hope everyone who lives on the east coast of the United States has survived the recent storm and earthquake. I have family that live in New York City and things were pretty rough for some of them, at this time they are still without electric power.

It's always wise to prepare for these types of emergencies because we never know when Mother Nature is going to bring her wrath.

However, out of chaos comes opportunity. I know a guy who has a web site offering all types of products related to helping people who have been affected by a natural disaster. We know that these disasters are going to occur. We just don't know when. So the best we can do is prepare as best we can.

Anyway, this guy built his product line by signing up with affiliate programs offering products related to surviving a natural disaster.

He promotes his site using low cost marketing strategies such as blogging, writing articles, and a program on Blog Talk Radio.

Because most people are reactive instead of proactive, they're not prepared when some kind of emergency occurs. However, once they experience a disaster with long term effects, they are more likely to prepare themselves just in case another emergency situation happens.

As disasters seem to occur more frequently these days, there is a growing market for products and services that are needed in an emergency situation.

As a marketer, you might want to give the survival market some serious consideration.

What Could You Sell to This Market?

The easiest way to get into this market is to do what I outlined above. Sign up for affiliate programs offering products  people will need in an emergency. Let me give you a recent example.

Just yesterday (August 31st) I heard a story on the news about people who were stranded by the recent storm.

All of the roads had been washed out. Since there was no other way to get it to them, food and water had to be air lifted in.

These people needed food and water to help them survive until they could be rescued. If they had been prepared by having some food and water stored away, they wouldn't have needed to worry about having enough to survive.

Since millions of people know about this storm, and it is still fresh in their minds, here's what a savvy marketer like you might do:

Your next step is to write a blog post or article using fear about being caught in a severe storm without food. You would put your affiliate link in the blog post or article.

You could also make extra money by selling emergency food kits at your local Flea Market.

Get the food kits from the above web site at your affiliate cost and sell them at a mark up price. You could make a sign saying:

   Don't Be Caught Unprepared!
   Get Your Emergency Food Kits While They Last!

It's that easy to take advantage of a hot market. Simply keep up with the latest news stories affecting millions of people. You just need to be willing to take action.

Telephone Marketing Notes

T.J. Rohleder is proving once again that the simple telephone is a very Powerful Marketing tool.

Here is how his strategy works:

Your phone rings, Ring, Ring, Ring.

You pick up the phone. You hear an automated voice message announcing a special tele-seminar describing a brand new money making program.

The message then gives you the day and time this special, live call will take place.

On the day of the call, you get another automated voice message telling you that the call will be taking place in about one hour, and are given the call in information again.

When you call in, you hear the sales pitch about this brand new way T.J. and his team discovered to help you make lots of money. The call lasts a little over one hour.

When the call is over, you are given another number to call to get signed up for this new money making program.

According to T.J. Rohleder his company has made as much as $70.000 with just one call. And they do one call each week. My point is, if you don't use the telephone in your marketing strategy, you may be leaving a lot of money on the table.

Internet Marketing Notes       

Here is a brief statement made by Mark Joyner about the future of Internet Marketing:

    No one is going to get ahead now with trickery.  Not that anyone really ever did (see "There Will Be Blood" to fast-forward on a life based on trickery), but the "blow-back" from shenanigans is happening faster and faster now.

    Make no mistake:  this is a *good thing*.

    What it means is that we're all going to hold each other to account.

    It also means that you're going to have to stop trying to be something you're not.  The reality of who you are is going to bubble up through the web.  It may come in the form of a photo of you on facebook.  It may come in the form of a consumer complaint.  It could come any time, and in any form.

Article Marketing Notes

As I said in the last issue, I was going to post at least five articles each month for the rest of this year.
